Overview

Flea is a miniature Compression Artifact Reducer based on the latest 3D-MNR and BAR technology from Algolith. Flea with HDMI accepts High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) signals and reduces compression noise artifacts known as “mosquito noise” (random noise apparent along edges of compressed images). It reduces bad reception and low light noise. Flea with HDMI integrates Algolith's version 2 BAR algorithm and virtually eliminates block artifacts associated with fast moving images. Flea cleans up and sharpens compressed images from Satellite TV, Digital Cable, DVDs and digital recordings (DVD-Rs and PVRs).

Function

Flea is designed to reduce noise and artifacts introduced by compressed digital video sources (DVD, Satellite, Digital Cable, PVR, HTPC). Flea is particularly efficient when used with new large screen digital displays and projectors that magnify these artifacts. Four distinct image noise reducing techniques are used; first, mosquito noise is removed using Algolith's proprietary pixel based algorithm. Second, Block Artifact Reduction (BAR) blends and diminishes inherent 8 x 8 pixel block structures of MPEG images. Third, Algolith's advanced motion adaptive temporal filtering eliminates bad reception and low light noise. Finally, using non-linear filters, Flea processes for image enhancement, which results in giving you exceptionally sharp and noise free pictures.
